Regional Planner (Planner I, Planner II, or Planner III)

The Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (SCCOG) seeks highly motivated and creative individuals to join its team of passionate and dedicated planning professionals. The candidate who fills this position will work in multiple facets of planning at both the local and regional level.

Regional Planners participate in comprehensive planning activities and functions, assist with the administration of SCCOG’s transportation planning program, and provide assistance to member municipalities with land use planning and administration and special projects as needed. SCCOG staff have the opportunity to engage in multiple subject areas including land use regulation, economic development, natural resource conservation, transportation, housing, human services, sustainability and resilience, renewable energy, and emergency management.

The position of Planner I requires a bachelor’s degree in planning or related field; Planner II requires a master’s degree in planning or related field and 1 year of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience; Planner III requires a master’s degree and 4 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience. Applicants with demonstrated experience in municipal land use administration, transportation planning, and grants management are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience with project management, analyzing and presenting data and preparing technical written reports. Proficiency with ArcGIS, Excel, InDesign and Sharepoint is preferred.

This is a full-time, 35 hour per week position.
